There is always one moment in childhood
|
The progress of our nation depends on our children. The future of our children depends on us. While childhood can be a time of exploration and empowerment, there are many children whose development is at risk. The combination of stresses that families, schools, and communities face affects the socialemotional, education, and health needs of young children, and their families' ability to be responsive to those needs.
Parents want the best for their children. But because of the complexities of today's world, parents cannot do it alone. They need support from educators and the community to turn their dreams for children into realities: to open the door and let the future in.
Teachers, too, need support. They need to know everything that educational research and best practice have to offer, and they need the chance to apply these lessons to their everyday work.

The Center provides expertise in:
Through our work, we seek to strengthen programs by bringing together research and practice, building cadres of talented and dedicated staff, promoting systemic change, and influencing policies and legislation that impact the lives of children. Working with community organizations, other nonprofit agencies, schools, and local child care and Head Start programs, as well as universities and national associations, our staff of 30 share a common goal: to improve the lives of children and families.
